It's been hundreds of years after humanity and Earth was devastated by wars. There were still smaller wars when humanity was trying to recover, but humanity has finally recovered to the point where small civilized and advanced safe-havens are built and humanity can continue again, but of course, not everything has been fully recovered.
Human territories are, obviously much smaller than they used to be, while new discoveries in technology has been made, a few have been forgotten and lost to time.
One of these new discoveries however, was a highly accurate nerve-control system that allowed people to control complex machines without complicated control systems. The closer these machines were to the pilot, the better the controls link, so of course, humanoid machines (read:giant robots) are popular.
There have been people with special powers too, some of them prove to be quite effective in combat even without being in a giant robot.
There's currently a war going on between "The New World Union" who wants to rebuild the world to what it once was with the same system the world used when it was still in good shape to maintain peace and order, and the "Equal-Will Faction" who denounce the old system as corrupt and wants to use a system where everyone in a society is expected to contribute to only vital needs of society and everyone is equal.
Which side will you be on? Or are you on any side, for that matter?
